Counteractive Camouflage

Have you ever hoped you wouldn’t get noticed? I sure have. You know, that feeling of: ‘If I just stand dead still, they won’t see me.’

Well, like this weaner, it doesn’t always work. And it got me thinking about why we do that to ourselves. Sometimes we (yes I’m speaking to myself especially) get so worried about what someone else will think of us, like our hair (a big one for me), our style, our words or our work. But I read something by Brené Brown that resonated with me. It said:

‘Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.’

For me, it’s through this whole writing caper that I’ve begun to ‘show up’ and embrace the fact that I have absolutely no control over what they’ll think, say or perceive of me. Here’s to coming out of my camouflage and having a go. I hope you do too. xx
